Hi! My name is Bob Sloop, but you probably already knew that. I’m a Midwest guy. I live in Kansas City now, but I mostly grew up in St. Louis. I spent my first few years in Texas.
I’m a Christian first and foremost. Although I will disagree and argue with people at times, don’t we all, I understand there are some things I will never completely know and I have to leave it to God’s judgment. I will fight for what I believe is right with the understanding that we are all flawed and that I still care for those who disagree with me. Sometimes people mistake that for being a pushover. Believe me when I tell you that’s not the case.
I’m a Jayhawk. If you don’t know, that means I attended college at the University of Kansas. You probably know about the excellence of Kansas basketball. I started school there the same year Roy Williams became the coach. As a student, I sat in the first row behind the KU bench when we beat Kentucky 150-95. I got my ticket signed by Dick Vitale. I watched Terry Brown drill three-pointers with a very unique shot. And I watched and followed Kansas football before it was cool.
I’m what I call a Limbaugh conservative. That means I’m one of the millions of conservatives who couldn’t believe what I heard when I first listened to Rush Limbaugh. He said exactly what I was thinking. He just said it better and in an entertaining way. My roommate at KU during my freshman year introduced me to him. At college, most people are introduced to beer. I was introduced to the great Rush Limbaugh. I win.
I don’t always act the way I should on Twitter, but I’m the only person I have ever seen apologize to someone on Twitter. I’m trying to do better.
I think differently than most people. Sometimes that’s good and sometimes that’s bad. My mind goes from one topic to another pretty quickly. I’m going to upset people with some of what I post, but that’s ok. I don’t publish anything to be mean. I’m just refreshingly and brutally honest.
I live with my beautiful wife Michelle. I have two grown kids. I love spending time with my family more than anything.
During the day I’m a computer programmer. And frankly, I’m a good programmer, but I’m the best person I know at architecting an application. I don’t mean to brag. Michelle taught me to speak up for myself, and I’m so glad she did. So now I do. I’m really good at this.
That’s enough about me. I want to hear from you. Shoot me an email sometime. Or connect with me on Twitter. I’m going to upset you at some point with something I say. That’s ok. We can still get along and enjoy the insanity of this world together.
