“What the hell’s goin’ on out here?!”. That’s a famous quote by legendary football coach Vince Lombardi. It’s a question that pops into my head almost every day. Lombardi was talking about his Green Bay Packers on the football field. I think it, and sometimes say it, as I follow the news every day.
Let me give you an example. I recently saw a piece on Fox News about a trans activist group attacking some lesbian feminists. Do I need to continue? Did any of what I just said make sense to you?
Or how about this? President Biden announced a prisoner exchange with Russia. Ooh, exciting. It’s like a baseball trade. I’m all into it. And then I hear we gave up the “Merchant of Death” for a lesbian basketball player who won’t stand for our national anthem.
Understand that story above came from CBS! From 60 Minutes! I’m not talking about a far-right news outlet. 60 Minutes and CBS are at the opposite end of that spectrum.
So that’s what President Biden gave up. What did he get in return? He got a basketball player who won’t stand for our national anthem because America is a terrible place forever in her mind because it once allowed slavery.
Let’s remove the national anthem part of this. Does it make sense to swap prisoners at all? It will only encourage countries to imprison more Americans. And if you do decide that’s ok, does it make any sense to give up the “Merchant of Death” for a basketball player? No. It doesn’t.
So these are the kind of things I’m talking about. I shake my head and wonder what the hell is goin’ on out here.
I could go on and on. And you can’t argue with the people who view everything from a political lense. That’s a waste of time. I don’t even plan to try. I just want to provide my thoughts. People can read them or ignore them.
